It was Aug. 15 when I last updated this weblog... Almost three months ago... Unbelievable! How come I haven't written about anything even a single day over the past three months! It's not because I didn't have anything particular to write about (far from that, however, there were a plenty of things to remark!!!), but partially because (it definitely sounds excuse though...) I was kind of occupied with lots of "new" stuff to do (or I should say it was simply because I was sluggish... (^^;)...

After the second round of the teacher's exam was over (luckily enough, I could somehow pass the exam (^^/... I'm deeply grateful for all of you who encouraged and cheered me up!), I took a trip to Taiwan (click here for pics taken then). Then, immediately after I came back from Taiwan, I started to work for Tomishiro Minami High School as a substitute teacher for an entire month in September. After my term expired there, I taught English at Naha Nishi High School next as a substitute teacher for another successive month in October.

It was totally new experience for me to work in public high schools as an English teacher. More than simply teaching English, I was expected to take charge of so called a "homeroom", which usually consists of about 40 students. Also, I had to see after a sports club (only occasionally though...). Besides, I had to take care of miscellaneous chores as well. Through this experience for two months, I've had an impression that teacher's job is quite busy than people normally imagine... It also demands high sense of committment, service mind, and on top of that, empathetic care for students!

When I was in the US majoring in TESOL, I always kept it in mind that I would like to be an "educator" not merely an "English instructor"... English is one of the major subjects in school nowadays, and its value is distending in this globalizing society. So, I'll do my best ever in teaching English drawing on all of my knowledge and experiences. However, above everything else, I'd like to pursue "education" aiming at students' personal growth in my forthcoming teaching career.
